Show Jumping Training Commission

Horse: Sunbeam
Owner: WhiteWoodWardens
Rider: Jamie Rians
Facility: Indoor Arena @ CandleWick Equine Facility

Swirls of dust spun up from Sunbeam's hooves as she stepped along at a steady walk. It was the warm up that would soon take her into a massive workout, popping over 3 foot fences along the outer rails. She was calm, collected, and acted like a ball of clay, forming around Jamies cues.

She had a sensitive mouth, so playing with the reins was a no no. Jamie had to remind herself, that with this mare, less was more. She was athletic, though. She moved with incredible grace, and even, though she was sent for show jumping training, she couldn't help think that Ariel, the stable's dressage trainer, would have a blast with this beautiful girl. As they merged into the trot, a soft click with the tongue was all it took.

She glided over the poles laid out on the ground, easing over the short crossrails, before they picked up the canter. A couple circles was enough to allow Jamie to get the feel of Sunbeam's gait, a slow, rocking horse canter. Luckily, it natural had a bit of jump in it, which would make it easy for the mare to make it over higher obstacles.

As it came time to begin introducing the higher fences, Sunbeam pointed her ears forward, eager to please her rider. She kept her steady pace, and with the same delicacy as before, she bounced over the fence, and landed just as gently on the other side. So as the schooling session continued, she continued to amaze. It was like riding on a cloud. Cliche, but just how it felt.

An hour or so later, though, the young mare was gradually losing stamina, and once they peaked at the 3 foot jump, she began to knock rails. With a sweaty neck and a look of sweet satisfaction on her face, she stretched her neck on a loose rein. What a good work out, and what a happy human, she thought, glancing at Jamie smiling on her back.

I thought to myself, what would be a more perfect setting for Sunbeam than the indoor arena in the late afternoon while all the rays of light are streaming in through the windows? No setting, that's what setting! Anyways, with all the stark contrast and bright colors on this little mare, it almost looks like an in-depth comic strip frame. At any rate, I hope I did your gorgeous girl justice!
